“So, what do you think? Do we just keep an eye on her, or do you want to turn this in?” I ask, sitting on the edge of my chair.
My father tugs on his bottom lip, as is his habit when he’s concentrating. “I don’t want to get the local authorities involved. This is too big, and Kate’s in too deep. I’ve been given the authorization to investigate this. I’ve got a trace on her, so keep a close eye on April. It’s good that you have her staying at the office during the day, near us. Someone should always be with her.”
“I’ve got two guys scoping out the abandoned buildings not far from the MileHigh plant. Hopefully, I’ll get my stolen fuselage back soon,” I say. “I’m certain I’ll find it this week based on the information that Jed Raymond gave me. I’m a little concerned about the file that Robin took out of my office, too. There’s confidential information in there, and I just wish I knew which one she copied. Sue will check tomorrow to see if she notices anything different about them.” I shake my head at the thought that a long-time employee, who has worked for my mother as long as Robin has, would resort to such deceitful behavior.
“Well, you know she’s working for Kathryn now. After Kate fooled us into believing that she isn’t responsible for harming April, I don’t trust her. She’s in deep, and she’s in trouble. Her threats to take you down and finish you should be taken very seriously, Jason.”
“Yeah, I know. But she also threatened my family, so that means all of you should be on alert as well.”
“Oh, trust me, Son, I’ve got all that covered.”
“I thought you would.”
Opening his desk drawer, he pulls out a black velvet box. “Here, I want you to give this to April. Pretend it came from you.”
I look at the delicate and feminine piece of jewelry. The diamonds will look pretty on her wrist.
“There’s a chip between the second and third stone after the clasp. Make sure she wears it all the time.”
Looking closely at the bracelet, I try to locate the microchip, but can’t see it.
“It’s perfect for her—simple and understated. She’ll like it, but how do I get her to wear it every day?” I ask, turning it over to look again.
“I don’t know, Jason,” he says, rolling his eyes. “Tell her something cheesy, like you want to see it on her to remind her of you or something. Fuck, I don’t know. You’ll think of something.”
Laughing, I replace the bracelet in the box and slip it in my pocket.
“Jason, I’m not going to lie to you—this isn’t good. Kathryn’s messing around with the cartels. She has brought them to our door. Between what I’ve figured out, and what I suspect, I fully expect it to get worse. A whole lot worse. Be vigilant, all right? I’ll keep you and the others apprised as the data comes in.”
“I think we should tell her, Dad.”
“What? About the family?” I nod my head in response.
“Not yet. You can tell her about what we discussed here tonight regarding Kate, but not about me. And don’t tell her the significance of the bracelet. We’ll share with her if it’s necessary, but not before then, all right?”
“Yeah, but—”
“I know, Jason. I know you’re worried, but telling her could endanger her and us. You don’t want that, do you?”
I shake my head. “Okay, but if any harm comes to her, I’m telling her. I need to think about her safety before my own. Plus, we can’t keep asking her to withhold things from her family, that’s not right.”
“I know, but let’s try to hold off as long as we can. There’s something to the saying ‘ignorance is bliss’.” He takes his seat behind his desk.
“I’m going to run over to her place and give her this present.”
“Keep her close, Jason.” I look back at him over my shoulder and nod, wondering how I’m supposed to do that.
I head back to April’s, and as soon as she lets me in, I pull her into my arms.
“Hey, what’s the matter?” she asks, running her hands up and down my back.
“Oh, nothing. I just missed you.” Nuzzling her neck, I bury my face in her hair.
“You were only gone a little over an hour, silly. Do you want to watch another movie or something?” she asks, guiding me into the living room.
“Um … I have something for you. I’ve had it for a little while, but I want to give it to you now.” I pull the small velvet box out of my pocket and hand it to her. She looks up at me and then slowly opens the box, revealing the diamond tennis bracelet.
“Oh, Jason. It’s beautiful.” She lifts it out of the box and looks at it carefully. “You shouldn’t have done this.” She puts it back in the box and hands it back to me. “It’s too expensive, baby.”
“I want you to wear it.” Taking it back out of the box, I look directly into her eyes and place it on her delicate wrist. “To remind you of me. To keep me close to you and next to your skin.” I lock the safety clasp, so it won’t accidentally come off. “Will you do that for me?” I kiss the inside of her wrist, and she cups my face in her palm.
“I promise. I’ll wear it every day.” She holds her wrist out to admire it, lifts on her toes and presses her warm lips against mine. “Thank you, Jason. I love you, too.”
“Thank you.”
“Let’s have a glass of wine and sit outside on the balcony, all right?” she suggests, heading for the kitchen. I take the opportunity to text my dad. It’s on her wrist.
After a few minutes, my phone buzzes. Got it -GPS activated.
Why does my gut tell me that if she ever finds out that we have a tracking device on her, she’ll have my balls for lunch?
~.~
After a restless night’s sleep, I walk out the front door and, as usual, April’s there. Always the professional and always prompt, she’s standing by the passenger door, waiting. I can’t resist ogling her in her blue pleated skirt that very much reminds me of a college cheerleader uniform. What fun I would have unbuttoning that double-breasted vest.
Taking her hand, I kiss the back of it specifically to look at her wrist for the bracelet, but she’s wearing a long-sleeved blouse. I dip my finger just under the tight cuff, feel the piece of jewelry and smile. My eyes continue their journey down her body, and I can’t resist licking my lips when I see her tanned legs in a pair of blue patent leather pumps.
“Good morning, April. Dad wanted me to tell you he and my mother took the Mercedes today since they had an early morning meeting across town. May I say that you look downright sexy today?”
“Thank you, Mr. Rowe. May I say that you do, as well?” She smiles at me and closes the door behind me.
Once we’re situated, I see Kyle sprinting toward the car. “Hold up, April. I think we have another passenger.”
“Thanks for waiting,” he says, snapping his seatbelt into place. “It was a last-minute decision.”
“No problem,” she says.
As the car pulls out, Kyle starts to chatter on about his schedule and starts texting.
“We had a great time at your party Saturday, April.”
“Thank you,” she replies.
“April, do you think Sam will keep his word not to tell Kate we’re onto her?” I ask.
“Yes. As a matter of fact, he phoned me this morning to tell me he’s scheduled to drive her today. He wanted us to know that. I reminded him then not to say anything to her. You can trust him. If she continues to ask questions about you and me, he’s only going to say that he hasn’t spoken to me in a while, so he doesn’t know what I’m up to these days.”
“Do you think he can pull this off without giving anything away?”
“Yes. The only potential problem I see is him trying to break off the sexual aspect of the relationship. That’s bound to raise some suspicion.”
“He can just tell her he met someone he’s serious about,” Kyle suggests.
April pulls up to the curb to drop us off, but I let her know that I will be escorting her from the car from now on, accordi
ng to my father’s instructions.
She quietly stands to the front of Kyle and me and pushes the elevator button for us. After the short ride to the twenty-fifth floor, the doors open and we find Roger and Emily talking to Sue. It’s Roger who speaks up first.
“Oh, April, Paul and I had such a great time Saturday. Thank you so much for inviting us,” he says, taking her hand in his. “Paul insists that you and Jason come for dinner soon.”
Her smile is brilliant. “I had a good time too, Roger. That salad you made was delicious. You’ll have to give me the recipe.”
“I had a great time, as well.” Sue comes to stand in front of us. “Thanks for inviting me. We’ll have to do lunch so that we can talk. I have so much to tell you.” No doubt it’s to gossip about Sam since her cheeks are pink.
I stretch and sigh. “Well, ladies and gentlemen, I need to get to work. I’ll talk to you later, April. I have a meeting this afternoon, so if I don’t see you before then,” I bend over and whisper in her ear, “I love you, and if you wear that skirt again, we’ll be having a very private meeting of our own.” When I head toward my office, I notice her flaming cheeks and so does everyone else.
After getting lost in contracts that Farmer prepared for the purchase of a new company in Singapore, Sue’s voice penetrates my concentration by informing me that Neal is on the phone.
“Neal,” I answer, still halfway focused on the contract I was reading.
“Jason, we found the fuselage.” He now has my full attention.
“It’s very well hidden in an abandoned warehouse not too far from MileHigh. When I traced the owner of the property, I discovered that a group out of Columbia owns it. There’s a woman listed in the Articles of Incorporation. Do you know a Carolyn L. Good?”
I rack my brain trying to recall that name. “No, not off the top of my head,” I answer, still searching my memory.
“She’s the resident agent for the S.O.S. Corporation. Also known as the Sons of Somalia. I traced the address to a post office box. As you know, the Secretary of State doesn’t permit the use of a P.O. Box address as a resident agent, but because it’s one of those mailbox rental places where someone on staff signs for incoming mail or deliveries, they’ve gotten away with it. So, that’s a dead end, unless we find Carolyn L. Good.”
“Good job, Neal. I’ll start researching this Carolyn Good and let you know when I do.” I know my father will find her.
“Is there anything else you need?”
“Yes, can you send me a report on what you have on the officers of that corporation? I have a feeling my father will want it.”
“I’m still waiting on a few more pieces of information. Once that comes in, I’ll shoot it over to you.” I have a deep suspicion that report is not going to turn up much valuable information. If it’s who I think it is, their tracks have been covered very well.
“Okay, Neal. Thanks, and good job,” I say before hanging up the phone. I make a quick dash down to my dad’s office, and Roger tells me he hasn’t come in yet. I ask him to let me know as soon as he does.
“Oh, Roger, I was wondering. How long have you been seeing Paul?”
“Almost three weeks,” he replies. So, Paul was in a relationship with Roger when he was at the Guild dinner.
“How did you meet?” I ask, raising suspicion in Roger’s eyes.
“Um, at a club. Why do you ask?”
“I’ve known Paul since college and didn’t know he was even in town. I thought he’d moved to New York.” I try to sound nonchalant.
“Oh, yes, he did but came back a little less than a year ago when the charity foundations asked him to sign on as their President. He’s magnificent at it.”
“Yes, well, it was good having you both at the house,” I say before leaving. “Let me know when my dad gets here, all right?”
“Yes, Jason, I sure will.” As soon as I turn around, Emily is sitting at her desk across the hall.
“Hi, Emily,” I say, walking toward her.
“Hi, Jason!”
“How’s the new job going?”
“Oh, I love it. I enjoy working for your mother. She’s so busy and has so many things going on. I don’t know how she does it.” When she goes to elaborate, I stop her.
”Please be careful, particularly when my mother is concerned, Emily. There are some highly confidential files you have access to, and if you accidentally reveal anything about those, you will face the wrath that is my mother. And, trust me, it’s not a pretty sight. I know firsthand because I’ve been in front of it before.”
“Okay,” she replies, embarrassed.
“Enjoy your day.” I turn around and walk back to my office thinking about the new information Farmer gave me. I also want to do a little research before my dad gets back.
As I enter my office, I’m startled by who is sitting behind my desk.
I quietly shut the door, locking it for safe measure.
“What are you doing here?” I ask, walking toward her slowly.
“I missed you a little bit,” April says, seductively twirling a small lacy piece of navy blue colored material around her finger. I’m instantly hard, knowing she’s sitting in my chair with no panties on.
I walk around the desk, pulling her up to stand in front of me while I take a seat. Running my hands up her thighs under that fucking skirt, I feel her bare bottom and cup it in my palms. Taking hold of her hips, I lift her on top of the desk, which sends my paperwork onto the floor. Ghosting my hands over her outer thighs, I take her by the back of her knees and pull her to the very edge. I stare into her eyes and revel in the feel of her soft skin as my hands travel down her calves. One by one, I remove her shoes and place her feet on the arms of the chair.
“You missed me, huh?” I ask, pushing her knees outward, licking my lips at the sight in front of me.
“Mmhmm,” she hums, dragging her finger over herself and then spreading her nectar over my lip. Shuddering at the sensual maneuver, I slowly draw my lip into my mouth.
Then she does one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen. She lifts the hem of her skirt up over her stomach, and lies back on my desk, fully exposing herself to me.
I’m so hard, I can feel the pulse of my heart beat in my cock.
“You little tease,” I say, parting her juicy lips with my thumbs.
“Oh, I’m not teasing, Jason. I fully intend to fuck you,” she moans, lifting her hips to present herself to me.
I growl at her words, open my mouth and latch onto her, running my tongue over her from top to bottom. I’m relentless, and when I feel her swell, her hands fly to my hair, pulling me tighter into her. She gently moves her hips as my tongue goes to work.
When her back arches off the desk, my dirty girl cries out in pure pleasure. “Oh, fuck. Fuck. Shit.” This gives me even more incentive to please her. Her hips slow to a near stop, so I tease her just a bit more, and her body jerks each time my tongue passes over her sensitive clit.
“Damn, you’re good at that,” she says, trying to speak through her labored breathing.
I can’t help but chuckle as I dig tissues out of my desk drawer, wiping my face and her drenched pussy.
“Your turn, Mr. Rowe.” Hopping off my desk, she makes quick work of unbuckling my belt, dropping my pants and briefs around my ankles. When she seductively turns around, lifting her skirt and bending over my desk, she offers herself to me again. Aligning myself, I push into her feeling her heat wrap around as soon as I’m buried inside her.
Taking hold of her hips, I keep her firm and steady, preventing her from moving as I fuck her until I can’t hold on a moment longer. I reach around her, and as soon as I touch her, she cries my name and pushes back into me, telling me she wants more.
“Oh, baby, you look so tempting at this angle,” I say, as I thrust my hips against her ass. “I love watching my cock disappear inside you.” My breathing has become shallow, and I need to come.
“Fill me up, baby,” she says, looking at
me over her shoulder.
“I’m ready, but you’re coming with me,” I order as I lower my chest over her back. I wrap my arm around her waist and push harder and deeper, feeling the ache in the pit of my stomach.
“I’m ready … oh, fuck, I’m ready,” she whimpers as I feel her hips move against my fingers.
“Ah … Christ!” I growl as I empty myself, enjoying every moment. I hear her giggle underneath me. “What you do to me,” I say, nuzzling her neck. “I love you so fucking much.”
“I can’t move, Jason. The edge of the desk is cutting off the circulation to my legs.”
I reach for another tissue, and when our clothes are properly adjusted, we stare wide-eyed at each other and simultaneously burst out laughing. The desk is now situated in the middle of the room, having moved three feet from its original position.
“Holy shit, Jason, I had no idea you were fucking me that hard,” she whispers.
“Me neither,” I laugh, moving it back to its original position.
After we both visit the bathroom to make ourselves presentable, I open the door to walk April out. What we see has April buried so deep into my chest, I can barely move. All I hear is April’s chant, “Oh, God—Oh, God—Oh, God.”
My mother, father, Kyle, Nicole, Roger, and Sue sit in strategically placed chairs in front of my office door while holding up score cards. Each one says ‘10’.
I start to chuckle and hold April tight against me, shrugging at our audience.
“What can I say?” I offer as an explanation and pull April away from my chest to look deep into her eyes. She takes a deep breath and turns around to face the music and lifts her chin upward.
“I’m not going to apologize,” she says to everyone, and then turns to look up at me. “Pfft … tens!” She kisses my cheek, winks at me and turns toward her office. She quickly shuts the door behind her and leaves me to deal with the mess.
“Sue, cancel that order for a new desk. I’ve grown attached to the one I have.” I give my mother a wink and return to my office. And just as April did, leave everyone to sit out there by themselves.
